We stayed here for one night due to having an activity planned in downtown Ann Arbor. We booked on Hotwire. Got a great price, then read some not so great reviews about it on Trip Advisor. What I can tell you is that the hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Now that Michigan has gone smoke free, you don't have to be concerned with the smoke smell. Checked in around 6:00 pm on a Friday (holiday weekend May 28) night, which was a breeze. Asked which floor we would prefer and said "top floor". Room was very clean, looked like it had new carpeting in it. Two double beds with ample pillows. Small balcony - - a plus. Small bathrooms, but who really cares. Everything very clean and accommodating. A small fridge would have been a plus. Didn't use the pool facilities... lots of kids, but on this weekend or any weekend, that's to be expected. The only complaint of sorts, would be the elevator. Seemed to take a while to get to the fifth floor (took the stairs going down instead of bothering to wait) as we are able bodied people, however, it did make some weird shaking movements upon leaving or arriving at floors it did stop at. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed at the hotel for a week for work. It is a standard Holiday Inn in a parking lot with some mall style shops around it. It is in the middle of lots of roads, but can be negotiated without a car. I took the free shuttle every day down to the University, and got the normal bus back - which drops you about 400 meters from the hotel. The hotel is a big generic American style hotel, everything was fine - not great, but fine. There is a small gym with about 4 treadmills, some free weights, and a couple of benches. The pool is in the middle of the hotel, and there were some spring breakers (en route to somewhere I guess) staying there for 1 night - they were in the pool all night and it was noisy. However usually noise was not an issue. The rooms were fine, the staff were incredibly friendly though.

I stayed here on a study trip and found the hotel clean and quiet. The staff at the reception were always pleasant and having the Avis desk in the hotel made it easy to hire a car. The rooms were large and the internet was suprisingly fast. The hotels access to the highways was good and made it easy for an overseas traveller.

I recently traveled to Ann Arbor for surgery and stayed prior to and after at the Holiday Inn. Very nice rooms and very personable service from everyone on staff. Due to complications from surgery, I was re-admitted adn wasn't worried about my wife staying here, or using the shuttle. Everyone was very accomodating with all our needs. Well worth the price, and we got what we paid for. Rooms were clean and quiet.

In all my travels, I always avoided the Holiday Inn chain because of the wildly different levels of quality you would find. A long stint at a Staybridge Suites left me with enough reward points for a one night stay. I decided to use them up (the points), and here is where I used them.
This hotel fits in with other Holiday Inns in that you can't tell from the outside what type of experience you will find inside. I arrived at night (so it was dark), but I didn't have a great impression based on what I could see (when traveling on pleasure with my wife, I like to stay at nicer/cleaner places -- after all, it's supposed to be "pleasure" and fun). Inside, the lobby was much better -- clean, nice, and modern enough. It was Saturday, and they have live blues in the restaurant ($5 cover) that was pouring out into the lobby. That was nice to have some "life" to the hotel. The desk receptionist was dressed in blue jeans and a fleece -- no designation as an employee aside from being behind the desk and appearing to know what he was doing. I would have liked him to be in some sort of a branded uniform, even if it was only an embroidered golf shirt or name tag. He was efficient, very pleasant, and very helpful directing us to our room & some late-night dinner.
Inside the room, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been recently renovated. Granite in the bathroom, 32" LCD television, newer furniture, newer carpet... in all, I was very impressed. I usually feel like the hotel room is dirty (not just Holiday Inn, but most chains), but I actually did not feel that way here. It was a nice surprise.
My wife forgot her toothbrush -- a quick call down to the front desk yielded an efficient and energetic "we'll send one right up!" before she could even offer to come down for it. In less than five minutes, a friendly gentleman was at our door wielding a toothbrush. Again, I was pleasantly surprised.
We slept in very late and requested a late checkout. No arguement or hesitation was presented by the front desk.
I guess the only criticism I can offer is that my wife said the gym was musty/smelly and not equipped the best.
In all, I would not hesitate to stay here again. Since I stayed here with reward points, I can't comment on the price / value ratio, but it was definitely a nice experience.

We got an incredible price on Hotwire for this place. The hotel is very large and older, so not as many room amenities as newer ones.
It was hard to find an outlet in the room to plug the iron in. It had an iron, ironing board and coffee maker. No fridge.
The WiFi was difficult to pick up.
The room was clean and the bed very comfortable, they will bring you a feather pillow if you want, and I did and it was very nice.
I would highly recommend this place if you can get it under $65 or so we paid $45 and I felt like I got a super deal.
The restaurant was fine we had breakfast which was right there and OK, nothing special but not bad. Service was real good and people nice.
I forgot something at the hotel and called a couple days later and they are sending it to me, so I would say their staff is professional and very good.
I would not say this place is a $100 and up place.
But very close to everything.

This property is a typical 1980's style Holiday Inn. Property is starting to show it's age a little bit, but was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Decent indoor/outdoor pool and spa area. Didn't eat on site as the bar and restaurant share the same area and they still allow smoking in Michigan, so the smell carries throughout. But the night manager did recommend an excellent seafood place, Gandy Dancer, (pricey, but amazing service and good seafood) and the hotel shuttle took us there for free. Elevator was a little small, but didn't really have to wait much for it. Good location if you are doing business at the University, and right off the interstate, so good if passing through.
