Gerald R. Ford Presidental Library

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library is part of the National Archives and Records Administration's presidential library system.  The library is located at 1000 Beal Avenue on the north campus of the University of Michigan, where Ford was a student and football player.  This repository houses documents and audio-visual materials on the life, career, and presidency of Gerald Ford, the 38th Presiden of the United States.

The Life and Times of Gerald R. Ford
In the Lobby
A new permanent lobby exhibit presenting the timeline of Gerald Ford's life story, featuring over 100 seldom-seen documents and photos from Library collections.  Complements the Betty Ford Biography permanent exhibit that opened celebrating her 90th birthday.

Economy in Crisis, 1974 - 1975
Now through Winter 2010
Economic crises on an international scale are not new, and President Ford inherited a tough one in 1974.  A new exhibit at the Ford Library in Ann Arbor shows how he attacked a witch's brew of inflation, recession, budget deficits, and oil supply worries.

This exhibit features rarely seen artifacts and archival materials from the Ford Library and Museum collections.

Attorney Benton Becker was a key advisor to President Ford in the pardon of Richard Nixon and the disposition of Nixon's papers and the famous tapes.  Join us to hear Professor Becker upon the 35th anniversary of one of our most dramatic presidential transitions.  A reception will follow the talk.  Open Seating.

Presidential LIbraries and Museums in the 21st Century; Reflections on the Dilemmas of History, Legacy and Politics

Presidential libraries and museums have been in the news lately as historians and some members of Congress have raised issues of ongoing operating costs, control of and access to historical materials, as well as the role of the presidential foundations.  Join Sharon Fawcett, head of the National Archives system of 13 Presidential Libraries, as she discusses the past and future of these unique and sometimes controversial cultural institutions.  A reception will follow the lecture.  Free

Gerald R. Ford Foundation Research Travel Grants
March 15, 2010 (Spring)
Application deadline.  The Gerald R. Ford Foundation awards several research travel grants of up to $2,000 each in support of research in the holdings of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library.  A grant defrays travel, living, and photocopy expenses of a research trip to the Ford Library.

Gerald R. Ford Scholar Award in Honor of Robert M. Teeter
May 01, 2010
Application deadline - A grant of $5,000 is awarded annually to support dissertation research on any aspect of the United States political process during the latter part of the 20th century.
